Please read the Use Agreement below, fill in the registration form and press the accept button. You will then be taken to the download page. Before installing Distance 6.0, we recommend you read the latest release notes. After installing Distance 6.0 you should check the Distance support page for any patches that fix last-minute problems. If you want to make use of the density surface modelling (DSM or mark-recapture distance sampling (MRDS) analysis engines, you need to have the free statistics software R installed on your computer. Note also that only specific versions are supported: for the versions currently supported by Distance, see the Distance support page (look under the Distance 6 heading). This page also contains a link to the appropriate R setup file. For more information, see the release notes.

Distance on CD
The Distance 6 installation package is quite large (~20MB). To speed downloading, we have created two identical download sites: one in the UK and one in the USA. However, the size of the package may still pose some problems for people with slow or unreliable internet links. If you have difficulty downloading the program we can arrange to send you a CD. A nominal charge is made, payable in advance, to cover our costs. To order the Distance CD, please fill in and post us the order form.
Use Agreement
As a user of this software, you are entitled to copy the program and its associated components for your own or your local institutions use (e.g., university, laboratory, department, research center). You are not allowed to distribute this software under the name Distance or any other name, singly or as part of a package, from which you derive any reimbursement. Distance contains components and uses technology from many sources: Compaq Computer Corp., ComponentOne Inc., Data Dynamics Inc., Desaware Inc., ESRI, Farpoint Software Inc., IMSL Inc., Microsoft Corp., Polar Software, Sheriden Software Inc.
